This came from a media tie-in compadre after a mutual colleague had been given a pretty grim tme by their fandom over parts of their book that did not fit said fandom's view of What The Character Should Have Done - even if their view bore no resemblance to continuity:
Talifan: rabid and negative fan. (From Taliban Fandom, a phrase another colleague had coined.)
I haven't met any Talifans in the GFFA, fortunately. They can all take a joke about Verps, too. But I gather some other genre fans really do go a tad too far.
Anyway, it's my Dad's birthday today, so I'm off to cut cakes and generally do the daughterly thing. Back later.

This is one of those weird days.
I've just had a look at the rather spiffy artwork roughs for the Insider Vader story, and fallen into a bizarre conversation with the art director at Insider about...well, we ended up speculating on morris dancers with lightsabers. There are so many things to love about that idea, and so many things to fear...
In other news, my mother continues to support Scummers, and predicted that Pompey will be relegated next season at the same time as Scummers are promoted back to the Premiership. I think this is a very provocative thing to say in front of my Dad on his birthday, and convinces me that a Witchfinder General is needed again.
Mother redeemed herself (almost) by managing to come up with a very convincing theory on why I get a genuine thrill from Star Wars work, when I have managed to avoid this emotion since birth. I might relate it tomorrow if I still believe it in the morning. It was disturbingly convincing for a Southampton supporter's theory.
