A Conservative MP turned lifesaver when he dragged a drowning man to safety, it has emerged.

I imagine he's had all the jibes like, "You'll do anything for a vote." Seriously, though, it's a nice story.

But the lad's lucky it wasn't a Labour politician. He'd have had to get permission from the Blair Bunker to save him, but first a working party would have been formed to look at drowning and the causes of drowning, and an Initiative would have been launched. Then they'd have had a massive knee-jerk reaction and banned large areas of water more than two inches deep,  and slapped ASBOs on puddles.

Then they'd get around to fishing the guy out.

I don't link to off-site blogs too often and that's a shame, because some are just wonderful. I'm indebted to Dark Moose at the Star Wars site for this splendid blog entry.

He also wrote a fabulous page of Bossk haiku. But right now I'm applauding him for being a gentleman and riding to my rescue in the Talifan Wars.

(Yeah, I can still laugh about it. Just.)
