In a surprise move, troops from ASVS have invaded Spacebattles.com claiming they were provoked by the fallacies being perpetrated there. A call to arms was sent out on Friday, and by early Saturday the attack was launched.
"I'm going to go register for the sole purpose of shooting down that E1701," said Kynes, one of the leaders of the invasion forces, "Time for you Germanic hoardes to feel the blade of Maximus!"
The attack was initaited by Doomriser, " I really think that the 887+ users in the Spacebattles.com debating environment would make an excellent play/battleground for ASVS." He was quickly followed by other into the fray. Initially, the invasion was met with great success as the denizens of Spacebattles fell back before the vicious onslought of the ASVS.
In a briefing late Saturday, an ASVS spokeman had this to say on the campaign: "The ASVS conquest of the barbaric lands goes well! Field Commander Doomriser's information has proved most useful. Emperor Kynes and Darth Kerkhof have already made several strategic strikes on their core positions, and we appear to have taken them by surprise!"
Lord Edam, in a later interview, commented, "It's just so bloody easy over there. The poor sods don't know what's hit them. They've got half of us at them for twelve hours, then the other half turning up to continue the fight for the next twelve.
Mayor Chuck was elated and conveyed the overwhelming support of the ASVS population.
The invasion of Spacebattles was not without its setbacks. Several veterans of previous campaigns were forced to withdraw from combat suffering from a condition that ASVS medical experts have termed "Post-TOWNMNBS Syndrome". Most notable of those afflicted are Mayor Chuck, and Aron Kerkhof . "I kept having TJ flashbacks," said the mayor, still shaken by the experience.
The greatest challenge to the attackers has been the interface to Spacebattles. It has been referred to by many troopers as "that damn little box!". Also hampering the ASVS army has been the tactic of the Spacebattles defenders of hiding behind dauntingly large posts. " I'm certainly not going to read the entire 6-page primary thread--it'd be like reading through the Eclipse thread again, "said Eric of the ASVS Regulars.
A few denizens of Spacebattles have welcome the army of ASVS. "Wow these guys are good," admired Ensign Wars_Rule upon witnessing the attack. And Commander IceHawk-151 added, "I must salute these men. They are very good at this."
On Monday, Field Commander Kynes issued the following in the aim of garnering more recruits for the invasion: "If you haven't yet come to enjoy the splendor that is the conquest of Spacebattles.com, I would recommend you to do so. Come one, come all! Coordinate your attacks, don't be a hero, and let's do it for Mom, God, and apple pie!"
